It was eventful – both good and bad. We arrived at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo in Shawnee on Thursday to find that we were assigned the concrete floored barn. So, off to tractor supply to get stall mats. Settled the horses and began the mighty preparations – final clipping, bathing, banding, and all that show stuff.
Then, the Hays family arrived with their 3 horses – Holly, Chex, and Ima. Holly had been down in the trailer and appeared to be having an attack of colic. After a trip to the show vet on call, she was still having problems so Julie left the kids and other horses to take Holly home. She appeared better after the trailer ride but then declined rapidly on Friday and they lost her. Very sad and Annabelle is heartbroken.
The girls enjoyed the show days with their ponies and friends and look forward to next year. Steve drove down with us on Thursday and helped set up fans and such in the barn – then returned Saturday to watch the show and help pack up and go home. So much easier when the kids and husband do the heavy lifting. Happy Anniversary Honey!
