The girls had their first 9th grade meet (5A) on Tuesday in Tahlequah and brought home the medals. Alaina was Silver in High Jump at 5-4 and Ivy was Bronze with 5-1 (both PRs). The rest of the medals were Gold. Ivy ran 800 m, 3200 m relay, and 1600 m relay and her coach says she has earned a spot on the Varsity 3200 relay team. Alaina won long jump with a 12-10.5 foot leap and ran the 400 and 800 m relays. The Claremore 9th grade team won the meet. I missed it since I have ten tons of work this week 😦
Echo has mostly recovered from her run-in with Diez and posed (for half a second) with Thunder out by the barn. Both cats make visits to the kitchen window when we are at the table trying to convince us to let them move back in to their first home in the bathtub.
Splash finished his antibiotic treatment for a tooth infection but I am not sure it is resolved. I will call a vet tomorrow for advice or a checkup.
My YaYa sista’s planned a ride on Thursday night but I was in Kansas with Toto. The winds were howling and when the moisture came in, it rained mud splats. No worries, I was in a rental. The rain in Claremore washed out the ride but you can’t blame the girls for trying.
Ivy and Alaina had their second track meet of the week on Thursday (6A varsity) and their performances were not as good as they were at the meet on Tuesday. Their next meet is next Tuesday / 9th grade in Claremore, so cross your fingers. The conference/regional meet will be the same day as the district horse show in May. Both girls are leaning toward doing district horse show to qualify for State. If they miss the conference track meet, they won’t qualify for the state meet. Decisions – decisions.
Patty was in Texas for a Craig Cameron clinic with Beverly so we were out of luck for the party lesson. But, with a dressage show next Saturday and a 4-H show next Sunday, we needed to practice with the ponies. So, we met Nancy, Mary and Gena to ride at the Rocking C. Splash was a good boy in our English workout. Alaina rode Sammy/Jazzy in English and they looked pretty good – then she finished up with Sunny and Western. Ivy started off with Norman in Western for Nancy and then did a little English on Kizzy with a jumping finale. Gena / Smoky-Poky and Mary / Beau enjoyed the beautiful day on their lovely mounts. THEN, we went to lunch. I love my horsey friends and our Saturday traditions. Marilyn tried to keep the girls in line later on.
