School was out Friday (the 6th), Monday and Tuesday (the 10th) the weekend scheduled for the 4-H Horse Club Year End banquet so the girls postponed their homework until Tuesday evening; they spent all their time reading book after book they had already read. I went out to walk after the snow stopped and admit that the cold really cramped my style. Sherry walked with me on Sunday and I managed 2 loops with a companion.
So, with cold temperatures, the snow and ice took quite a while to melt and RAIN late last week washed out the party lesson and our YaYa Christmas Party ride on the 15th – but not the YaYa part complete with dirty Santa and PJ contest. The weekend included the ODS/GCC party at the McKenna Ranch in Sperry on Saturday night. Beautiful home, fabulous antiques, good food, year-end awards, and Dirty Santa. Splash and I were Reserve and Kathy/Call were Champion Western Dressage Basic Level riders. Kathy also won 2nd in Training Level. Ivy and Kismet were Champion Jr. 14 and up Training Level and Alaina won the Jaime Memorial Award.
We had a good group of YaYa Sisters at the Thorne Ranch on Sunday evening and Joan hosted a fabulous party. We gathered for horderves and adult beverages, then after we were full, it was time for dinner. As usual, we all brought best dishes in commercial quantities.
Then, it was time for the group photo before some of us mutated into PJ women.
For the PJ contest, Joan, Joanne, Rita, Gena, Nancy, and I changed and modeled for the group. My one-of-a-kind nightshirt sported a picture of a bearded Splash with the slogan “Appy-Appy-Appy.”
We finished up with Dirty Santa and the dirty Santa made his brief, annual appearance (then was stashed back in the box for next year). Hugs all around and we will start to make plans for YaYa rides in 2014 – hopefully starting on New Year’s Day. Any suggestions for a location?
