Ivy and Kismet were Training Level Junior 14 and up champions at the Heartland Schooling Show Championships. And, Patty won championships with both Little Rock and Prince, Marilyn was champion with Jurgan and Kathy was reserve with Call. Way to go ladies! I was scribe for Judge Susan Clarke, currently of Wichita, and had an enjoyable, short shift. The show was beautifully run and the rides were fun to watch. After lunch, I helped Ivy a bit, visited with Mary B and my other horsey friends, and took pictures. Very fun day.
Judge Sue was educational to scribe for. One tip she gave me was regarding the loop from H-X-K. Ride deep into the corner to establish good inside bend; then, in the first third of the way to X, start the change of bend to the outside so that bend is good at X, then start the change of bend in the first third of the way from X to K so that bend is established into the corner. Also, Sue commented that many riders use to much inside hand rather than riding from the inside leg into outside hand.
The weather was fine again on Sunday so Mary, Gena, Chelsea, the girls and I rode with Patty in the tree farm. Prince checked out water and the other horses got to have a drink but I kept Splash well away from the Splash Zone. I have learned my lesson and it was not hot enough to enjoy a dunking.
We are scheduled to go on the Harvard Fox Hounds Hunter Pace at Flint Creek this coming Sunday but it looks like the weather could be wintery. Ugh – there may be a rain date in our future.
