The weather was perfect on Mother’s Day but I had that day-after-horse-show couch potato feeling and almost passed up on an opportunity to ride with Amy S and Melanie C at Walnut Creek. But since I have a Kansas trip this week and a dressage show at the Rocking C next weekend, I figured I would be very sad if I had missed out on a Sunday ride. So, the girls and I met A and M at 3-ish to ride the trails.
The area is more than beautiful since it is greening up for the first time since wildfires last summer. There were scores of deer but all the horses handled them just fine. Amy’s colt, Goose, did come up behind Sister and gave her a “goose” – just a little nip on her nice rump. She took exception and Ivy had to get after her. Otherwise, all the horses were really good for the ride although we skipped the ‘gorge of death’ and only did smaller gullies and creek crossings with “Triple Threat” being the steepest. All in all, a lovely way to spend mother’s day.
I think the YaYa Sisters should make the trip out to Walnut Creek soon. Meanwhile – I think we have a lakeside venue for the St. Jude Trail ride scheduled for June 2. I will check it out as a possible location next weekend and…. hopefully we will be ready in time. Meanwhile, ride whenever you can. YaYa!!!
